2010 - Another Great Year for the Rosebrook ASH Stud
This year has been an hectic year for those of us here at Rosebrook. With another full on year of showing, campdrafting and polocrosse this year will end with us preparing for our 2011 sale to be held on January 15 at the Muswellbrook polocrosse grounds.
World Championship Campdraft
Colin headed off to Sydney Show for the World Championship Campdraft on Kirkbys Stud Refine. After six rounds of competition and with two round wins and a second to their credit Colin and Refine were the eventual winners of the World Championship Campdraft.
Refine was purchased in 2000 at the National Yearling Sale at Hawkesbury.
Winner of RM Williams Trophy Saddle
In the Australian Stock Horse ring at the show Loretta Lawson had two entries going round. Rosebrook Balou Rose was placed in led, hack and working classes and won the small arena draft. For the second time in three years Balou Rose and Loretta were awarded the RM Williams Trophy Saddle for the most successful ASH of the show. What a great achievement! Loretta’s other entry, Coquon Holly, also had a great show winning ribbons in all sections of competition.
Holly was purchased at the Hunter Branch Sale and is sired by Rosebrook Sabre.
Champion Under 21 ASH at Polocrosse Nationals
Our competition year began with the Australian Polocrosse Nationals held at Ballarat in Victoria in March. Simon Parkinson was playing for the Northern Territory in the Under 21 Mixed competition on Rosebrook Sterling. His team won three of their five games in a very strong division. Even though they did not figure in the finals Sterling was judged the Champion Under 21 Australian Stock Horse of the carnival which was a significant achievement considering that he was judged against all horses playing in the open and mixed intermediate competition.
Champion Junior Male Horse and Rider Combination at Barastoc Interstate Series
Brandon Parkinson was selected to play Rosebrook Conchita in the NSW Under 16 Junior Mixed team who were defending the title won two years ago in Perth. This team lost a round game by one goal to Queensland but then defeated the same Queensland team in the final by a significant margin. Brandon made a highly successful trip to Warwick to compete for NSW at the Barastoc Interstate Series against Queensland.
After winning all three games Brandon and Rosebrook Conchita were judged the Champion Junior Male Horse and Rider Combination of the series.
National Pointscore Winner
Brittany Parkinson competed at Sydney Show in the Youth Polocrosse on Rosebrook Ferrari. All the players in the youth competition are under 12 and compete in the Main Arena and Schmidt Arena. Brittany and Ferrari were unfazed by their first taste of representative polocrosse and were judged the best Number 2 combination of the carnival. Brittany and Ferrari went on to compete at Albury in late April at the Australian Junior Classic for NSW 2. They made significant contributions to this team over the weekend. This was the start of a great year for these two who went on to win five major awards at different carnivals around the state. Brittany and Ferrari also won the 2009 National Pointscore in the under 13 age group.
This was a great achievement considering Brittany only started playing in 2009.
